Moss removal and treatment

Keeping your roof free of Moss is an integral part of property maintenance. 50% of all gutter and downpipe blockages are caused from moss tumbling down from the roof and into the gutters, resulting in the rain water not being able to flush it away due to its weight and sticky composition.

What’s on your roof is probably a combination of moss, algae, lichens, and fungi—all of them older than the dinosaurs. The spores can just be carried in the wind. Moss needs a fair amount of moisture to live and is happier in low sunlight. Overhanging trees provide the shade and food source they like, as they drop debris.

How We Clean Your Roof

Some roofs can be cleaned from the ground with our long telescopic poles however depending on height, location and space on the drive we could use a scaffold, scaffold tower or cherry picker to be able to reach up to the top of the roof. We would then scrape / brush all moss from the roof and clearing gutters while we are there. Removing these growths will make the roof look better, often returning the colour to almost new. Most importantly, it will enable the roof to do its job of keeping the water out.
